> How we treat each other on Esperantopedia: who can have a profile, what is not allowed, how to report a problem and what we do about it.

## Who can take part

- You need to be at least 16 years old to create a profile.
- Looking for a conversation partner and the conversation circles are only for people aged 18 and over.
- One person, one account. Do not pretend to be someone else.

## Be kind

Write the way you would like others to write to you. Everyone makes mistakes in a new language: correct others gently, and only if they ask for it.

## What is not allowed

- harassment, threats, insults, and hate against people or groups (for example because of their origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability);
- sexual content, and any contact with a sexual purpose with people under 18;
- spam, advertising, chain messages, and links to scams or harmful software;
- other people's personal data (addresses, phone numbers, photos) without their consent;
- content that is illegal in the European Union or where you live, or that infringes someone's copyright;
- new accounts made to get around a block or a suspension.

## Privacy and safety

- Your e-mail address is never shown on your profile. You decide who can see your profile and your activity.
- You can write only to your friends. You can block anyone at any time; they are not told.
- Never send money, passwords or codes to people you have met online.

## Conversation circles

Conversation circles are small online conversations in Esperanto led by volunteer hosts. The rules above apply there too, and in addition:

- Only people aged 18 and over can take part.
- Be kind and patient – everyone is learning. Speak Esperanto as much as you can; mistakes are welcome.
- Do not record, take screenshots or share what others say.
- A host can remove a person who breaks the rules. The removed person cannot join that circle again.
- Something feels wrong? Leave the meeting and use **Report a problem** on the circle page; you can also report afterwards.
- We read reports from the circles like all others. We may exclude a person from the conversation circles or stop a host from leading circles; we then tell them on their account page what we did and why.

## How to report a problem

- On a profile, use **Report**; in a conversation, use **Report message**.
- For anything else, or if you think something is illegal, use the **Report an error** form at the bottom of every page and describe what, where and why. If you want an answer, add your e-mail address.
- If someone's life or safety is in danger, contact the police first.

## What we do

- We read every report and may remove a photo, description, name or message, suspend an account, or exclude a person from the conversation circles.
- If we act against your content or your account, we tell you on your [account page](/account/) what we did and why.
- If you disagree with a decision, write to us through the [contact page](https://esperantopedia.org/contact/) and we will look at it again.
- What we store about reports and decisions is described in the [privacy policy](https://esperantopedia.org/privacy/).

## Changes

We may update these rules. The date at the top of the page shows the last change.
